Great agency and very different from other high street agencies, like how they try to keep all transparent and I am well impressed with their service. Would definitely recommend it as a tenant.Zaneta LTenant

Rent in the social sector outgrows the private rental sector by six times

The Residential Landlords’ Association has recently revealed that rent rates in local authority controlled homes have increased six times more than in the private rental sector over the past eight years.

The Department for Communities and Local Government have released figures which show that in the eight year period between 2005/06 and 2012/13,  average weekly rent in England for LA / social housing increased from £55.27 to £78.78, an increase of 42.5 per cent.

If you then compare this to figures gathered by the Office for National Statistics for the same period, rent in the privately rented sector increased by just 7.2 per cent in England. This compares with an RPI increase of 30.3 per cent over the same period, meaning that private sector rents actually fell in real terms.

When asked to comment on these finding, Alan Ward, chairman of the RLA said: “These figures burst the myth that it is private sector rents that are spiralling out of control, when it is tenants in local authority controlled housing who are facing far steeper increases in rents.”
